Classes...

Currently we offer 2 basic welding classes. One starter class to familiarize you with welding in which people make a box. The other is to use those basic skills to create a functional pair of brackets.

We also offer 2 basic blacksmithing classes. The first goes over the basics of tools and how they may be used. This class starts you learning how to move metal while you create a basic hook. The second builds on those techniques in which you create a metal calla lily (flower).

In addition, every month we offer a specialty class. This class changes from month to month. Last months class was making a knife from a railroad spike.

Welding 102, Lots of Learning Going On

Welding 102 is a mixture of skills basic to metal fabrication. Using several tools students perform an exercise in fabricating and welding steel into a utilitarian item. While working on their welding skills, students also get to work on their communication and comprehension skills. Being able to interact and gain understanding of what needs to happen is important. This group of students listened well and were a pleasure to teach! The students learned first hand the level of effort it requires to manufacture even basic items.

Blacksmithing interview with A.J. Wuest at WAFF48

Alot has happened since the last post. Covid slowed us down. We have been coming back strong though. Attending many awesome events. Making cool things. Teaching others many different skill sets through classes. Recently we paired up with Phil Kern at The Shop Huntsville to offer Blacksmithing classes. Please contact us for information concerning these and the other classes we offer here at Fire Giants Forge. Looking forward to seeing you!

Who are the Fire Giants...

David & Daton, along side their father Dewey, have shared a passion for creating for many years. While they enjoy a varied array of materials and art, the one best loved and shared between them is blacksmithing. Plans are to use this blog to take you on their journey. Check back from time to time to catch up on what they are up to.
